Effect of mole drain spacings and depths on the growth character of soybean was studied in the farmer's fields in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Mole drains were formed with a mole plough with a 75 mm bullet or expander diameter using a 75 hp wheeled tractor. The drains were formed at 2 m, 4 m, 6 m and 8 m spacing at an average depth of 0.4 m, 0.5 m and 0.6 m from ground surface. The average length of each lateral was 50 m and the tractor was operated with a speed of 0.80 kmph. The plant height, number of branches per plant, dry matter accumulation per plant and yield of soybean crop were highest in 2 m drain spacing followed by 4m, 6m, 8m and control plot in all selected depths. Keywords

Field demonstration was conducted during Kharif season 2012 to 2013 to study effect of seed-cum-fertilizer drill sowing machine for soybean crop at farmer's fields in tribal area in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Soybean sown by seed-cum-fertilizer drill was found better in term of growth character (plant population, plant height, number of branches per plant and number of ischolar_main nodules per plant) and seed yield weight per plant, seed index, seed yield, straw yield and harvest index (%) comparison with simple seed drill sowing machine. Keywords

The Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) is a major-self-employment and credit cum subsidy programme under implementation in the country and the scheme has been funded by the centre and the states govt. in the ratio of 75:25, respectively. The present study was conducted during 2006-07 in Rewa block in Rewa district Madhya Pradesh. The total sample for the study consisted of 120 beneficiaries of marginal and small farmers. The study concluded that the association of attributes like education, land holding, size of family, social participation, personal experience of credit utilization pattern, attitude towards credit utilization under SGSY programme, economic motivation, contact with development agencies and mass media was observed highly significant with increase in annual income of the beneficiaries. The co-efficient of multiple determinations (R2) indicated that only 83.03 per cent of variation in the annual income increased of the respondents could be explained due to 10 independent variables. Keywords

Frontline demonstration (FLD) programme is an effective technology transfer tool for better technology adoption that bridges the yield gaps. Keeping in view of an effective extension approach of FLDs for dissemination of soybean technology were studied for 3 years during Kharif 2012-13 to 2014-15 by the KVK, Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. An impact evaluation was based on the comparison of beneficiary and non-beneficiary respondents with reference to increase in knowledge level, extent of adoption of improved soybean production technologies, the yield gap analysis and economics were also measured. It was found that the level of knowledge of beneficiary farmers regarding different improved soybean production technologies was higher than non-beneficiary ranging from 2.00 MPS in field preparation to 30.00 MPS in seed inoculation with cultures. The overall significant difference was found in knowledge level of beneficiary and non-beneficiary farmers. The adoption level of beneficiary farmers observed 58 per cent and only 28 per cent have accepted but not adopted the technology due to some situational constraints. It is also revealing that there was a wide yield gap between potential and demonstration yields due to technology and extension yield gaps. Extension yield gaps varied to the extent of 4.10 to 9.42q ha-1 while technology gap ranged from 3.98 to 7.81q ha-1. Improved technologies gave higher mean net return of Rs. 46802/- ha-1 with a benefit cost ratio 3.34 as compared to farmers practice (Rs. 27066/- ha-1 and benefit cost ratio 2.59). On an average technology index was observed 24.03 per cent, which shows good performance of technical interventions. Keywords

A field experiments was conducted during Kharif season 2014 to 2015 for soybean crop to assess seed-cum-fertilizer drill and simple seed drill. Seed-cum-fertilizer drill was found better in term of growth characters and yield of soybean in comparison with simple seed drill sowing machine. The net return is the best index of profitability of soybean crop and higher net return per ha of Rs. 25569 was recorded for soybean crop under seed cum fertilizer drill whereas lower net return per ha of Rs. 17188 was recorded under normal seed drill sowing. Keywords
